Beginners A1 - Greek Language Level:
a.
- Language Functions: At the Beginners A1 Greek language level, learners are expected to comprehend and use everyday expressions and simple phrases
related to basic, immediate needs. They can introduce themselves and others, and they are able to ask and respond to questions about personal information such as where they live, people they know and things they own. Communication at this level is simple and relies on
the cooperation of the interlocutor, who should speak slowly, clearly and be supportive.
Learners at this level can share basic information about themselves and people close to them, manage routine daily situtations, for example shopping or talking about interests. Also, they can establish basic social or professional interactions such as making introductions, accepting or declining invitations, and discussing leisure activities. Communication at this level is primarily oral and typically occurs in face to face contexts, though learners may also handle simple exchanges by phone or social media. In addition, they can understand the gist or the main idea of clearly written texts and are able to produce simple written messages using straightforward language.
b.
- Grammar - Use of Language: - familiriazation with the Greek letters and phonetics - declension of active verbs in present tense in all groups (A/B1/B2 conjugations) - basic groups of nouns and adjectives in singular/plural nominative and accusative cases -
common prepostitions and their syntax - possessive, personal and question pronouns - definite and indefinite articles in all grammatical forms - first explanations on spelling and stress systems - systematization of the singular and plural endings of nouns and adjectives -
irregular verbs in present tense and the auxiliary verb eimai - passive voice only in present tense of the verbs and only in the first conjugation (-omai).
